While there are numerous duplicate content checkers available, the simplest method is to copy a random snippet of content from various pages of a website, then wrap them in quotation marks and do a Google search. Any link that you create on your own should be set at “no follow”. The reason for this is that you’re essentially telling Google that the link was created to generate traffic and not to artificially boost your search engine results. There are hundreds of different ranking factors that search engines, like Google, consider as part of their algorithm when deciding what results to return for a given search query.

Domain authority (DA) is NOT the ultimate metric

Generally speaking you want to use your keyword as the anchor text for your internal linking whenever possible. External linking (from other sites) shouldn’t be very heavily optimized for anchor text. If 90% of your links all have the same anchor text Google can throw a red flag, assuming that you’re doing something fishy. Which relevant search terms are most popular? Many companies err by assuming a particular term is popular. They put all of their efforts into being number one for a term few people care about—an enormous waste of SEO resources. Long tail keywords may offer more chances to show up higher in the search results, while you can also perform manual searches on your own to test the first pages of the keywords you want to target. Google has guidelines that regulate the use of keywords and regularly updates its algorithms to regulate the industry. Keywords should be relevant. This means your site should be a satisfactory destination for users.

SEO can be a frustrating activity

Engagement with a website began to emerge as a ranking factor with the release of the Panda update by Google on February 23, 2011 Technical SEO is an often misunderstood discipline that many find difficult to pin down in exact terms. Long form content is most valuable when it can serve as an extensive resource for readers on a specific topic. This includes long lists of tips, step-by-step guides, and collections of facts and statistics. SEO in Hessle is here. When you incorporate real SEO into your website, you’ve made a conscious decision to plant a seed, nurture that seed, and help it grow over time. This long-term strategy and efforts produce high-quality results that continue to produce results year and year. Every site-owner needs to gather links and local business owners would probably benefit even more for good links.

Make your content much more linkable and likable

According to Gaz Hall, a UK SEO Consultant : "Websites that receive many inbound links can be more likely to rank higher in search engines. Basically, inbound links tell site crawlers that your website is an authority on a certain subject -- so the more inbound links you have from high quality, high authority sites, the better your website can rank in search engine results pages (SERPs)." When you’re spending good money on SEO, it’s common to obsess over your keyword rankings. Links don't matter that much for ranking in the Featured Snippet when you already rank on page one of Google. Over the years many people have tried to game the system by creating content that is stuffed full of keywords in the hope that repeating their keyword phrases over and over again will in some way get them to the top spot of Google. While this tactic may have worked in the 90’s and early 2000’s it is time to put this to bed and stop creating content that is written solely for the search engines. These search engines have evolved and now recognise and reward natural language so the best piece of advice is to write naturally and for humans. Writing a good title tag should read more like a newspaper headline than a bunch or keywords, so keep it descriptive, but of course, still with keywords included. There are many different opinions on the ideal length of the title tag, but most agree that 110 characters should be the minimum.

Start searching the targeted keyword

Search engine results are in a constant state of flux as rankings for individual pages and sites go up and down, outdated content fades and new pages are published. That means you'll probably notice a normal ebb and flow in your site rankings, especially if you're lower down in the results. If a person goes looking for a company or product by name, Google will steer them towards what they’re looking for. Content marketing is the process of developing unique content that is useful for your target market – often without selling whatsoever. Google has a free tool that allows you to test the mobile-friendliness of your website. As hinted at earlier, companies need to create a responsive website instead of creating desktop websites and expecting them to work on mobile. Make sure content is not buried inside rich media (Adobe Flash Player, JavaScript, Ajax) and verify that rich media doesn't hide links from crawlers.

Focus on topics instead of keywords

If it’s been just a day or two since you made your website and are not appearing on the SERPs, then you might consider submitting your URL to Google (If you haven’t already done). If you still don’t appear on the SERPs, relax! Google takes some time to crawl and index your website. Unlike traditional AB testing where metrics become available immediately, with an SEO change you need to wait before you can even begin your analysis. Google needs time to index the change. Then you need to accumulate at least 2 weeks of data. Google already gives ranking boosts to sites on a secure protocol (https vs. http) and this emphasis on security will only grow as time passes. Use Google’s Search Console for guidelines on Site Map creation. Once your Site Map has been created according to the Google guidelines, you should submit it to Google via Search Console. This helps Google know more about your web pages, and gives you more control over how your URLs appear in the search engine ranking pages. Prioritize keywords and phrases, plurals, singulars and misspellings.
